Spring is Here!
It seems spring has finally arrived on Shelter Island! A hint of green has appeared on the branches of the trees at camp, and—if you look closely—along the recently-completed roof of the Campus Center. As with the former dining hall, this signature green will adorn the window trim and fascia of the building, allowing it to fit right in among the more historic buildings on campus. Major milestones like siding, paving and planting are set to take place during the first week of May.
With the surrounding grounds freshly landscaped and graded, seeding has begun on the front lawn. Before long, this dusty construction site will be transformed by new sprouts of lush, green grass.
Work continues on the interior of the Campus Center as well as the Faculty Cabins, which now boast the beginnings of cabinetry. All cabins, and the entire campus will be fully accessible with the help of ramps, rolling slopes and an elevator in the new dining hall.
