March Madness
Despite two monster snow storms and a three-month-long freeze, we’ve seen some exciting progress at camp over the last weeks! With our wonderful partners at Zappola Construction working around the clock, major changes seem to crop up practically overnight, and the Campus Center has transformed yet again.
One prominent change is the location of the main entrance, which will now face south toward the performance space. To refresh your memory, check out the photo of the former dining hall below:
The new construction presents a much broader facade, turning what was essentially a service entrance into a grand and welcoming exterior.
On the opposite side of the building, the basement floor has been smoothed over, and the future “great lawn” has been smoothed out as well—but not with concrete. The landscaping here will provide the perfect space for lawn games, gatherings, and the gala dinner tent (be sure to save the date: Saturday, August 1). We can’t wait to share the breathtaking view of the bay with you!
Other ongoing work includes the installation of water, electric, and septic lines, and the state-of-the-art I/A septic tanks, which will all be invisible but essential and eco-forward utilities for the campus.
Meanwhile, work continues on the interiors and exteriors of the two new faculty cabins. As Toby always says, “Our program is only as good as its faculty, and our faculty is as good as it gets.” With our faculty (and often their families) spending so much time at camp with us throughout the summer, these additional living quarters are crucial, ensuring PMP remains an attractive opportunity for the world’s greatest music educators.
