Our First Campus Center Dinner
Earlier this month, we had the great pleasure of enjoying a delicious dinner on the porch of the Gladstone Campus Center for the very first time! After several weeks of meals in the Performance Tent, everyone was thrilled to reach this important milestone toward the completion of Phase 1 and experience the new kitchen and dining hall in action.
While the use of the kitchen and the dining area has been secured, there are important finishing touches to be completed in the fall (such as paint!), and other spaces in the building remain under construction, safely partitioned off. The exterior spaces, however, are nearly finished. With the planting of a beautiful garden near the main entrance, and the installation of building signage and a donor recognition wall, the facade has essentially reached its final form—an icon of PMP’s Shelter Island Campus for decades to come.
The donor wall lists the founding members of the Blank Family Circle. Established in tribute to the extraordinary vision and over three decades of service by Christine and Ran Blank, the Blank Family Circle recognizes eighteen families and foundations who have contributed $1 million or more in cumulative giving to The Perlman Music Program. These premier benefactors are supporting world-class training, mentorship, and performance opportunities for exceptional young musicians.
On Sunday, July 12th, the Summer Music School String Orchestra officially kicked-off performances in the tent at the inaugural Sugar Plum Picnic, continuing with Works in Progress concerts the following weekend. It was a delight to welcome guests back into the tent and make use of the new parking lot on Stearns Point Road, as well as the renovated Welcome Center and much-anticipated public restroom facilities.
Work will be largely paused for the remainder of the summer season, and will resume this fall to complete outstanding elements of the Gladstone Campus Center. We look forward to celebrating the completion of the Gladstone and Phase I at the beginning of the 2027 summer season!
