Entrepreneur, Jim Clark, hosted an extraordinary evening at his home in Palm Beach, Florida this past February. Our musicians performed in his elegant living room for a large crowd of friends and supporters. After each quartet impressed the audience with a movement or two, the Ariel and LK Quartets combined forces for an exciting and dramatic performance of the last movement of Mendelssohn’s String Octet.
Jim Clark hosted this special evening to raise awareness for The Campaign for The Perlman Music Program and the Program’s crucial need for an endowment. In 2006 and 2007, Mr. Clark jump-started The Campaign by making two separate $1 million gifts.
Speaking to the audience before the concert, Mr. Clark said, “I met Itzhak and Toby a couple of years ago. I went to [their camp] on Shelter Island and saw some young people perform there. I was frankly blown away by the quality of the talent of the people and the quality of the music. Since then, I’ve been personally contributing to build the Endowment Fund to keep The Perlman Music Program running on a permanent basis.”
