“Patrick Romano, a faculty member of the program and conductor of the chorus, has a vigorous, dynamic conducting style, which elicited clear, crisp, well-blended singing. At times he stepped away from the podium, making strong, sharp gestures, or signaled a hush with fingers to his mouth, or put a hand on his cheeks to remind them how to shape a vowel. And it worked…”
Throughout the Summer Music School and Sarasota Winter Residency, all students and faculty (including Mr. and Mrs. Perlman) participate in daily choral rehearsals, led by PMP’s choral director, Patrick Romano.
While none of the students are trained singers, PMP believes that the skills needed for singing directly correlates to the skills they are mastering on their instruments.
In past summers, the chorus has worked on such great works as Mozart’s Requiem, Brahms’s German Requiem, Bach’s B-minor Mass, Orff’s Carmina Burana, and many many others.
