First year master’s candidate Julia Michelle Carrasco Barnett was born and raised in La Mesa, California. She received her Bachelor’s of Music in flute performance from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University in 2007 as a student of Leone Buyse.

D. Edward Davis is a composer and sound artist who lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. His music has been performed both in the USA and internationally by a wide variety of performers.

Tomoko Fujita

Fellow since 2008

Tomoko Fujita is the founding cellist of the Bryant Park Quartet and a musician of wide-ranging interests. Tomoko has presented solo and chamber music recitals at many venues including the Staller Center for the Arts, Alice Tully and Paul Recital Halls of Lincoln Center, the Kosciusko Foundation, and Duncan Recital Hall.

Violinist Benjamin Russell is hailed as a dynamic performer and displays great talent in mastering both classical music and folk music of several cultures. As founding member of the Bryant Park Quartet, he tours throughout the country performing recitals and gives presentations in public schools and universities.
